Strike Craft is a loosely used term in the Homeworld universe to describe ships that depend on larger ships (particularly carriers, shipyards, or motherships) for support and depend on speed and maneuverability to overwhelm larger opponents. Aircraft used for multiple roles are generally only listed under their primary role unless specialized versions were built for other roles in significant numbers. The date the aircraft entered service – or was first flown if the service date is unknown or it did not enter service – follows the name, followed by the country of origin and major wartime users. Some types are so defense-oriented they don't even launch regular waves, while others are extremely offense-oriented. AI purchase cost 28->32, strength rating 1x -> 1.25x. Some types only give the AI access to extra units, while others radically alter its behavior. Vanilla Strike Craft: Obstructor Wing: Energy cost 400 -> 500, base ship cap 32 -> 28. Prototypes for aircraft that entered service under a different design number are ignored in favour of the service version. The AI types you are fighting determine how the AI behaves and what ships and defenses it is able to use against you. Aircraft developed but not used operationally in the war are in the prototypes section at the end. The list of aircraft of World War II includes all the aircraft used by those countries which were at war during World War from the period between their joining the conflict and the conflict ending for them.
